Story #23 “Emotions”

You are elusive and yet exist everywhere. I believed in you more as a child – as I’m sure every child does. As I have moved through life, I believe in you less and less. To a child, you are the excuse for everything: Bad behavior – you are a motivator, wanting more play time with friends – you are the motivator, desire to complete homework – you are the drawback, or desiring that new toy a friend has – you are the motivator. As all of us grow, as we all learn more, experience more and develop, you become further from our reality. You do then become more of a motivation for furthering our growth and understanding in all variety of ways. I work at and demand that you continue to have no control over my life. At times you do; at times your power overbears my will. All is best when I can do all that is in my power to resist your strength, your force. For you matter, but being aware of your possible presence matters more. I’ll always demand that I conquer you before you conquer me! For when there is boredom, there is no further learning, no further creativity, there is no motivation. If you lose those, you lose life.
